Millennium Accounts V5.80

There is a new Criminal Legal Aid release of Millennium Accounts 5.80 available. Customers who do Legal Aid work will have been contacted already by the support team who have issued the upgrade on CD.

It is for new Criminal Legal requirements that come into effect from 14th July 2010.

Release notes as follows:

Criminal Matters

  • There are 19 new Criminal Matter Types, 17-35,  which have been added to the selection of ‘Criminal Matter Type’ on the Matter setup tab and for their use in criminal billing.
  • There are 13 new outcome codes, PL01-PL13, for use in criminal billing.

Police Station Schemes

  • There has been 1 description change + 1 date dependent fixed fee change  plus 1 Police Station name change and the 2 new Police Stations which use existing schemes.
  • There are 8 date dependent Scheme number replacements/changes and 2 date dependent Schemes terminating. Where the matter’s work started on or after the 14th of July 2010 these schemes changes will take effect; this is also shown in the date element of the Unique File Number (UFN) which is available on the Legal Aid tab of the Matter record.
  • When selecting a Court/Police Station/Prison the replacement Scheme number and Name are shown after the other scheme details. For information their titles include the applicable date of 14/07/2010.
  • Further changes involve the date dependent closing of 2 Police Stations and these being replaced by a new one but retaining the same Scheme number and values as used by the original ones; these changes also occur on 14th of July 2010 (see details above).

Prison Law Fee Scheme

  • There have been 141 prisons added to the system; they have been included, as type Prison to distinguish them from Court and Police Station, in the selection drop-down box for the default Court/Police Station, hence the title has been changed to Court/Police Station/Prison - this is on the Criminal part of the Legal Aid tab in the Practice Options. They have been included here as they are mutually exclusive in the matter stage.
  • Prison law stage reached codes PRIA, PRIB and PRIC will work on tiered fee systems where the matter’s work started on or after the 14th of July 2010 rather than the hourly rate calculations used where work started before that date. This tiered fee system works on one payment rate regardless of location (i.e. no separate London/non-London rates). PRIA has a standard fee whereas PRIB and PRIC each have a lower fee with limit and an upper fee. All 3 have an exceptional case threshold value.

We are dedicated to making sure our product keeps pace with the requirements for Legal Aid practitioners, you can help by giving us your views and feedback.
