Millennium Accounts V5.79

There is a new Criminal Legal Aid release of Millennium Accounts 5.79 available. Customers who do Legal Aid work will have been contacted already by the support team who have issued the upgrade on CD.

It is for new Criminal Legal requirements that come into effect from April 2010.

Release notes as follows:

Criminal Legal Aid Changes For April 2010

  • The “CDS18 - Exceptional Case Claim Form-Crime”, produced via bill production, has been updated to Version 2 April 2010.
  • For committal cases reported on or after 1st of April 2010, the outcome codes CP14 and CP15 are now invalid. You will receive an on-screen warning if you use them during criminal billing.
  • New outcome codes, CP25 & CP26 have been introduced for committal cases where the client was first attended before 6th of April 2010. These are to replace the defunct CP14 & CP15 codes.

Police Station Schemes

  • There have been 148 fixed fee changes + 1 description change. Cases started on or after the 6th of April 2010 in these schemes will attract the new fixed fee. The date element of the Unique File Number (UFN) will be used to determine when a case has started. The UFN is available on the Legal Aid tab of the Matter record.
  • When selecting a Court/ Police Station the current Net Fixed fees and Net Escape values are shown after the scheme name. For convenience these are followed by the net values applicable for cases started prior to 6/4/2010.

Miscellaneous Legal Aid Enhancements

Civil & Criminal Legal Aid bills are automatically paid from the legal aid matter account you designate in the Practice Options. The description, shown on the ledger card, for these contract bill payments now includes the Bill number and the LSC Unique File Number. This appears on the ledger card as:

Contract bill payment

of <Bill No.> UFN:<Legal Aid UFN>

In addition to this the “Our ref” column will be populated with the Client/Matter code of the balancing ledger. When viewing the ledger for the legal aid matter account this will assist with matching payments made to you by the LSC.

Note that you must tick the “2nd detail, bill no, clearance” option to see this 2nd line of detail on the onscreen ledger and also the ledger card printout. You may set this as a personal preference in local options (See Clients & Matters tab Show extra transaction information on ledgers).

We are dedicated to making sure our product keeps pace with the requirements for Legal Aid practitioners, you can help by giving us your views and feedback.
